Students at a Prestwich stage school have shared their pride after passing a "really hard" exam.

Pupils at Footlights Theatre School are delighted after receiving an impressive set of results from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).

LAMDA examines students on their performing arts abilities, with grades ranging from a fail to a distinction.

Several of the students from Footlights achieved distinctions and none of them failed, making 2022 the 15th year that the school has achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

Jo Fisher, the founder of Footlights Stage School, said: “These results are incredible.

"It’s one of the best years we have had for LAMDA results at Footlights.

“Each young person put their heart and soul into their performance. We are so incredibly proud.”

Speaking about the examination process, eight-year-old Tahlia Potts said: “The exam was really hard.

“You go into a room on your own with the examiners, and you have to be able to perform everything perfectly. I was really nervous going into it, but I’m so glad I did it!”

One of the LAMDA teachers, Chris Grant, said: “The ability of some of the acting students this year has blown me away.

“In Manchester, we are a hub of creativity, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of these kids on the big screen very soon.”

“It gives them life skills such as confidence, reading ability and emotional empathy. Of course, they also have fun and make new friends.”

The school said that preparations for November’s LAMDA exams are already well underway and students are being given their songs and monologues.

Joe added: “We have no doubt that the 100% pass rate will continue.”
