Four borough pubs have made into a well known guide which celebrates the best boozers in the country.

Three of the four establishments that have been included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide are in Prestwich - Keg, Cask & Bottle at the Longfield Centre, The Ostrich on Bury New Road and The Royal Oak on Whittaker Lane.

The fourth premises to be recognised in the guide's 50th edition is The New Inn on Ainsworth Road in Radcliffe.

Drinks shop and bar Keg, Cask & Bottle stocks more than 300 curated beers.

It has a rotating line up of keg beers and cask ales, which showcase the best that the UK and international brewing scenes have to offer.

Owner Sam Parker said: “We’re really pleased to have been included in the 50th edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide.

“It’s great that our commitment and care for the beer we sell, particularly cask ale, has helped us build a reputation for serving a great pint.

“We’re delighted that a small place like ours can be included in the beer drinker’s bible, especially after the rollercoaster three years the hospitality sector has experienced since we opened.

“Hopefully this recognition will mean more fans of great beer will come and pay us a visit and explore Prestwich.”

The Ostrich is a warm and welcoming popular pub with a good selection of drinks available for very reasonable prices.

Traditional pub The Royal Oak, which is located near Heaton Park, offers a wide range of cask ales and lagers by Hydes Brewery.

And The New Inn serves a fine choice of cask ales along with lagers, bitters and wines.

CAMRA national chairman Nik Antona said: “For nearly five decades, the Good Beer Guide has been a comprehensive guide to the UK’s breweries, their ales, and the best outlets to find them in across the country.

“The Good Beer Guide has always had an important role in acting as a barometer of the beer and pub industry.

“We believe information gleaned from the guide is absolutely vital in the drive to save our pubs from closure and campaign for policies that better support pubs, local brewers and their customers.

“While we experienced a boom in the brewing industry over recent years, it’s clear that the effects of Covid-19 and subsequent cost of living and cost of goods crisis has been keenly felt.

“I’d encourage everyone to use this guide to seek out the very best examples of pub excellence and support these locals by visiting them.”
