There are currently no metro services running between Bury and Whitefield due to a signalling issue.

The Manchester Metrolink tweeted about the disruption and loss of metro service between the two stops.

Tickets are being accepted on numerous bus services – 97, 98, 135 and 524.

A spokesman for Manchester Metrolink said: “Due to a signalling issue, there are currently no services operating between Bury and Whitefield.

“Ticket acceptance is in place on the 97, 98, 135 and 524 bus services. Please check back for updates.”

Bury Times:

Recently, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) urged motorists to be aware of trams when driving near Metrolink tracks after releasing footage of close to 100 crashes.

TfGM recently released video of road traffic collisions on the network after it revealed that between April and December 2022, there were 91 car crashes with trams.

Most incidents were caused by driver error, the transport body said, which is asking drivers to be more aware of their surroundings when sharing road space with trams, particularly at junctions and level crossings.

No trams to run between Bury and Crumpsall this weekend

The footage of three crashes released by TfGM shows drivers of cars and heavy goods vehicles pulling ahead of oncoming trams before the tram driver can react.

Poor driving habits can put the driver, tram driver and passengers at risk of serious injury, and can have a wider impact on the Metrolink network, adversely affecting the public travelling.
