The transformation of the site where the former Bury Magistrates Court building stood to create 49 homes is nearly complete.

The development on Jubilee View by Cassel and Fletcher includes 10 town houses, each with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, which are available to buy, and 39 one and two-bedroom apartments which will be available for rent.

Each town house will be built over three floors with a lounge, kitchen and toilet on the ground floor.

On the middle floor, there will be a bathroom and two bedrooms with one having an ensuite.

And there will be another two bedrooms and bathroom on the top floor.

They have all enclosed gardens, and they all have parking with a cul-de-sac style road.

Jennie Platt, managing director of Jennie Platt Estates and Lettings, which is selling the homes, said: “The planning permission process took nearly two years from the point that the developers secured the building and building started about 18 months ago.

“The show home is ready for people to look round and hopefully within six weeks all the homes will be finished.”

They come with a 10-year warranty and the new homes have been built with sustainability in mind.

They have high tech insulation, triple glazing and state of the art heating systems, meaning that gas and electric bills will be half that of similar sized properties on only the next street.

The apartments, which used to be the old magistrates building, are set to be completed by the end of July.

Parts of the old court have been kept in the redesign of the apartments including pillars and the original big windows and lightwells.

Jennie added: “The architects had to overcome the problem with the building being a court, as all the court rooms have to be in the centre of the building with no external windows.

“So, they had to try and separate it out, so all the apartments had natural light.

“The old jail is still downstairs and will be utilised for bike and e-scooter storage as the apartments are aimed at people who may not have cars.”

There will also be large communal spaces in the building so people can hot desk and work.

Another communal area will have gym equipment.

The town house prices start from £265,000 and the apartments, which will only be available to rent, are £650 a month for a one bed and £825 a month for a two bed.

The development has been funded by Homes England, which aims to boost housing supply as well as providing affordable and quality homes in well-designed places.

The development will be coming to the market soon and the show home is ready for people to look around now.
