A police crackdown tackling organised crime and drugs in Bury remains ongoing after the operation achieved "great success" last year.

Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Operation Revoke focuses on combating crime in the Moorside area and officers' work has led to "significant disruption of drug supply and criminal exploitation".

In 2023, more than 100 arrests and in excess of 50 warrants and searches were made,. This led to more than £1m worth of drug seizures.

As the operation moves forward in its second year, Revoke is "doubling its efforts to clear Bury of the scourge of drugs and criminals".

There will be an increase in partnership work to focus on the roots of drug issues and to tackle money launderers to cut cash flow to criminals.

This approach is aimed at cutting of demand by aiding drug users and those at risk of exploitation, and reducing the gains by shutting down criminals attempts to turn their funds clean.

Officers will team up with Trading Standards, the council, housing, probation, and outreach teams as part of a multi-agency response.

“Tackling crime in the Moorside area has seen a significant difference and we have received some great feedback from partners and the community.

“We simply won’t tolerate criminals harming those in the community.

“This operation is dedicated to locking up criminals in Bury and putting them behind bars – and what is exactly what we will do.
