A borough restaurant's owners have been left "heartbroken" after their venue was burgled.

Babbo Cucina Italiana on Scholes Lane in Prestwich was targeted on Wednesday, May 9.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed it has been told about the break-in and said enquiries are still ongoing.

No arrests have been made.

In a statement on social media on Thursday, a restaurant spokesperson said: “Last night we were broken into. The front door was smashed, and we were robbed.

“The team are utterly heartbroken, but we’d like to assure you that we will be open as usual tonight and we will be better than ever.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you to Greater Manchester Police who have been incredible.

“For something like this to happen in our wonderful community is so sad but we won’t let it get us down. Thank you for all your continued support.”
